Zukowski, Donald R. (8 OCT 1936 – 29 DEC 2020)

Donald Roger Zukowski passed away on December 29, 2020, surrounded by his wife of 59 years and his six children at Marshfield Hospital.

Donald was born on October 8, 1936, to Peter and Estelle Zukowski on the family farm. He was the youngest of four children. After high school graduation, he volunteered for the army and served on the East Coast.

When his father died, he was honorably discharged so as to help his mother with the farm. He married Darlene Knultz on June 17, 1961. Together they had six children: Kathryn (Ray) Pszeniczny, Donald (Lisa)
Zukowski, David I (Kathy Ann) Zukowski, Karen (David) Pszeniczny, Kay (Edwin) Vater, and Daniel
Zukowski. He worked for the Clark County Highway Department for 40 years, serving as foreman for 30 of those years. He liked to work and, after retirement, he worked another 10 years for Ovyn Construction.

He has 17 grandchildren: Olivia, Alek, and Ari Pszeniczny, Lauryn and Matthew Zukowski, Brock and Jake Zukowski, David, Ashley, Halle and Morgan Pszeniczny, Michael, Sarah, and Eric Vater, Teegan, Elliotte, and Caydin Zukowski, and Geraldine (sister) Elzinger.

Donald loved to travel. He vacationed in all HBWI 50 states and in several overseas countries.  He loved fishing at Mead Lake, deer hunting, boating, and O-W sports. He watched as much as he could of O-W sports and seldom missed his children's names. Best of all, he loved being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Robert and Leonard.

Our family was so blessed and lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives. It is hard to say goodbye but we really were lucky to have him for so many years. The memories he created with all of us will be cherished forever.

Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, and the Mass will follow at 12 noon at Holy Rosary Church. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
