Kilty, Irma Gertrude (8 April 1926 – 6 January 2021)

Irma Gertrude Kilty, 94, of Colby, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Colby Retirement Center under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

Irma was born on April 8, 1926, the daughter of Martin and Mary (Tambornino) Weix in Unity. She attended Unity Public Schools and graduated from Colby High School in 1945. On August 2, 1945, Irma was united in marriage to Lyle Kilty at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colby. He preceded her in death in 2001. They farmed near Unity until they retired. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Christian Mothers. Irma made many quilts, afghans, doilies and Christmas ornaments over the years to give to her children and grandchildren. She also made many baby quilts and lap quilts that were donated to the hospital in Marshfield. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles and adult coloring books and her IPad.

Irma is survived by her 3 sons: John (Joyce) of Phillips, Joseph (Linda) of Unity and Jeffrey (Karla) of Riplinger; eight daughters: Joan (Klyde) Gebelein of Colby, Janice Oelrich of Stratford, Diane (Gale Score of Fargo, ND, Donna (Ken) Bruesewitz of Colby, Doreen (Darnell) Sazama of Athens, Delores (Duane) Kilty of Colby, Dawn (James) Hebda of Menomonee Falls and Bonnie (Shon) Marcott of Mosinee; 32 grandchildren: 56 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three sisters: Laura Riese of Colby, Rita (Don) Schnabel of Gilman and Mary Ellen (Norbert) Dittner of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents; two sisters: Pat (Frank) Carpenter and Mary Ann (Pat) Weis; five brothers: Henry (Mary) Weix, Alphonse (Jean) Weix, Leonard (Bonnie) Weix, Paul (Bonnie) Weix and Leo (Marilyn) Weix; two grandsons, Rodney Kilty and Jason Hebda.

A Mass of Christian Burial for family only will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby. Father Joseph Redfern will officiate. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Colby. A Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday at the church. Family and friends can watch the service live on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website.

The family requests memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church.
