I have a bona fide diploma from a medical college, duly chartered by the state
of Illinois, and that I have in my possession a published account of the
commencement exercises at the time of graduation, also the valedictory address,
which I deliver on the occasion, published in a medical journal. But I wish it
distinctly understood that I do not wish to practice medicine in Spencer, and
have only consented to practice in a few instances, when I could not reasonably
refuse, and in most cases when there was no other physicians in town. So the
warning to “pass up or shut up,” was entirely uncalled for, and would make no
difference in any event. I am very much adverse to the discussions of personal
matters, but say this much, that the public may be at rest in relation to the
matter.
