Lindner, Arthur M. (27 April 1942 – 7 January 2021) With Flag

Arthur M. “Art” Lindner, 78, of Loyal, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Arthur Mathias Lindner was born on April 27, 1942 on the home farm in Loyal, to Casper and Marie (Keller) Lindner. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School and Greenwood High School. Art entered the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served 8 1/2 years. He was united in marriage to Shirley A. Weyer on October 16, 1965 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Loyal. Theirs was a marriage of love, humor, a strong-working partnership on the farm, and raising their five children. The foundation of their marriage was their strong faith. Art spent many hours in the shop fixing cars, trucks, tractors, and combines. He loved the woods; either to fish in the 160 or to log it. Art never stopped his logging mission. Many of dads cut logs ended up as part of the many FORTS built by the Lindner Kids on Spencer Road. His faith and family were most important to him, but he also loved the farm, the Green Bay Packers, mechanical equipment and humor. Ice cream, chocolate malt and Grasshoppers were favorite treats of his. He enjoyed the Cabin, Copper Falls and swimming with the family, fishing, walking through the woods and nature, whether it was a sunrise or a perfect tree.

Art was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Shirley, of Loyal; his children: Perry (Vickie) Lindner of Custer, Penny (Tom) Nigl of Omro, Sally (Spencer) Mashak of La Crosse, and Gary "Fred" (Brenda) Lindner of Loyal; his grandchildren: Kristen, Kayla (Keary), Kyra, Molly, Carrie (Jacob) Heath, Jon (Lamiesa) Nigl, John, Levi, Tysen and Ross; 2 great-grandsons: Bentley and Michael; 5 sisters: Jacqueline Lindner of Greenwood, Irene Wilke of Loyal, Jeanette Sullivan of Dumfries, VA, Shirley (Henry) Janezich of Willard, and Dorothy Wessell of Sheboygan; 3 brothers: Donald (MaryAnn) Lindner of Greenwood, Richard (Bonnie) Lindner of Greenwood, and LaVerne (Joan) Lindner of Loyal; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Connie Knight on May 26, 2014; one brother: Carl Lindner; and one sister: Elaine "Sis" Herdrich.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the family only at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood, WI. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jon Lindner, Levi Lindner, Dale Lindner, Terry Lindner, Dennis Lindner and Jim Nigon. Visitation will be held for the public at the church, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Art's name to St. Mary's Memorial Fund.
