Wesenberg, Garland E. (26 April 1940 – 12 January 2021) With Flag
Garland E. Wesenberg, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on January 12,
2021 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
In compliance with current COVID-19 protocol, masks will be required inside of
the mausoleum building and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Garland was born April 26, 1940 to Wesley Wesenberg and Violet (Sternitsky)
Rogers in Lynn. He graduated in June 1958 from Marshfield High School. Garland
served in the Air Force from March 1959 to January 1963 and then served in the
Navy from February 1964 to May 1967. Garland and Kathleen Korth were joined in
marriage on February 5, 1966 in Norfolk, VA. Garland worked in Instrumentation
in the paper industry primarily in Nekoosa, for his working career. Garland
loved spending time outdoors fishing, playing guitar and singing, as well as
bowling and playing pool. Garland was a devout Catholic and belonged to St.
Vincent de Paul Parish in Wisconsin Rapids.
Garland is survived by four children, Lisa (Todd) Marino of Winchester, VA,
Carol Wesenberg of Wisconsin Rapids, Paul Wesenberg of Wisconsin Rapids, and Amy
Wesenberg of Appleton, 3 grandchildren, Cody Boisen of Wisconsin Rapids, and
Javan Fields and Jenae James of Appleton.
He is further survived by his siblings: Lawrence Wesenberg of Belvidere, IL,
Lorraine Becker of Spooner, Jerry Rogers of Washington, Elroy Rogers of
Minnesota, Darrell (Elizabeth) Rogers of Marshfield, Karen (Edward) Goch of
Marshfield, and Linda (Russell) Perlock of Marshfield.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathleen, and his sisters,
Darlene Haeni, Evelyn Rogers and Fern Hewitt.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Forest
Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids. Military rites will be performed by the
American Legion Post #9 of Wisconsin Rapids.
