Plautz, Stephen (1901 - 1982)


Stephen Plautz, 81, of Willard, Clark County, died at around 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, 1982, at his home.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. James Lesczynski officiated and Interment was in Holy Family Cemetery.

Stephen Plautz was born to Stephen and Mary (nee Poprich) Plautz at Calumet, Mich. on Jan. 22, 1901. He received his education at Willard School and attended business college at LaCrosse.

Before his marriage, he worked for Northern States Power Co. for five years.

On June 11, 1930, he and Alice Robey were married at St. Paul, Minn. Since 1930, he has been living at Willard. He had worked in Chicago as a bank teller for two years, then went to Duluth and worked as a bank teller. He was employed by the Greenwood Bank as a cashier for many years, then worked as a bookkeeper for Plautz Bros., Inc.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Knights of Columbus and was on the Clark County Electric Board of Directors.

Surviving him are his wife four sons, Floyed of Greenwood, Robert, at home, Paul and Phillip of Hales Corners three brothers, Joe of Willard, George of Greenwood and Emil of Owen six sisters, Mrs. Angeline Levesque of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Lester (Mary) Burmeister of Milwaukee, Ms. Ann Plautz of Milwaukee, Mrs. Sophie Matkovich of Milwaukee, Mrs. Leo (Helen) Albright of Minocqua and Mrs. Frank (Rosaline) Pakiz of Greenwood and nine grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents three brothers and two grandsons, Donald and Allan.

An 8 p.m. Prayer Service and an 8:15 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary were conducted on Aug. 10. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.
