Stafford, John W. (1915 - 1982)
John W. Stafford, 67, of 620 S. 11th St.,
LaCrosse, died at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, 1982, at St.
Francis Home, LaCrosse, where he had been a patient since May
1982.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11, at Rinka Funeral
Home, Greenwood. Rev. Norbert Miller officiated and burial was in
the Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were David Mueller,
Richard Schulte, Bill Wiritla, Todd Perry, Floyd Siems and James
Siems. Mrs. Gary Schultz was the organist and Mr. Gary Schultz the
soloist. Rinka Funeral Home handled arrangements.
John Stafford was born to Elmer and Dimple (nee Westphal) Stafford
on Feb. 4, 1915, at Greenwood, Clark County. He received his
education at Greenwood High school.
He was married to Evelyn Drawver on Dec. 23, 1963. He worked as a
mechanic at the Ford garage in Greenwood and the Oldsmobile Garage
in Colby. He later was employed by Barr Minkery and was at one time
employed as a construction worker at Melvina.
Surviving him are three sisters, Mrs. Edith Churkey of Owen, Mrs.
Arnold (Leona) Mueller of Spencer and Mrs. James (Bethel) Stevens
of Great Falls, South Carolina and two brothers, Earl Stafford of
Dorchester and Lyle Stafford of Kenosha.
Preceding him in death were his wife, in Feb. 1981 his parents and
one sister.
