Elmer E
KUMM, 75, of Pittsville, died (no dod listed) at St Joseph's
Hospital, Marshfield WI, where he was admitted August 11th, 2000.
Elmer was born April 18, 1925 to Albert and Ula (STETTLER) KUMM
near Pittsville. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1942.
On April 20, 1948, he was married to Julia STEIDL at St Joachim's
Catholic Church, Pittsville. Elmer and Julia celebrated their 50th
anniversary in 1998. They dairy farmed from 1948-1992 and after
selling their farm, moved to Pittsville.
Elmer was also retired from the postal service where he served as a
rural carrier from 1971-1989. Elmer served as Town of Dexter
treasurer from 1955-59 and assessor from 1967-71. Elmer also served
as Town of Hiles supervisor from 1990-92. He enjoyed playing
accordian and listening to polka music, playing cards, going to
auctions, going on hayrides in Kumm's crazy carriage and spending
time with his family. He was a member of the Rural Carriers
Association.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Julia five sons, Lee (Linda) of
Vesper, Earl (Karlette) of Pittsville, Glen (Peggy) of Casper WY,
Lyle of Eau Claire, and Rick of Marshfield four daughters, Rita
(Ken) JAKOBI of Granton, Janet (Bayless) CONLEY of Los Alamitos,
CA, Linda (Randy) FOCHS of Pittsville, and Marilyn (Chris) BATHKE
of Oshkosh twenty grandchildren, two great-grandchildren six
brothers, Ernest, Floyd (Delores), both of Pittsville, Allen
(Violet) of Wisconsin Rapids, Myron of Ohio, Jerry (Lorraine) of
Nekoosa, Lynn (Bev) of Florida and five sisters, Verna HOEKSTRA of
Vesper, Irma (Don) BOCK of Florida, Audrey DERUSSEA of California,
Margaret of Marshfield, and Marlene (Lloyd) YOUNG of Rudolph.
Elmer was predeceased by his parents, one daughter, Fern and one
grandson, Tommy JAKOBI.
Funeral services were held at 2pm Sunday August 27th at Buchanan
Funeral Home, Pittsville, with daughter, Reverend Janet CONLEY of
Cottonwood Christian Center, Los Alamitos, CA officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Mark KUMM, Denny JAKOBI, John KUMM,
Nicolas KUMM, Brian KUMM, Jacob FOCHS and Josh KUMM.
