Currie, Gertrude (1886 - 1982)
Gertrude Currie, a former Greenwood, Clark
County resident, died Sunday morning at Homme Home for the Aging,
Wittenberg.
Born in Ashland on Sept. 24, 1886, she was a daughter of Rev. and
Mrs. S.E. Sweet. She wed Arthur Currie on March 8, 1919, in
Milwaukee. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1965.
She graduated from Oshkosh High School and the Ashbury School of
Nursing in Minneapolis.
She resided in Greenwood from 1919 to 1937 and in Elcho from 1937 -
1955, before moving to Antigo.
Mrs. Currie was a member of Antigo First Baptist Church, its choir
and Choir Committee, and had been a church organist at the
Greenwood First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Antigo
Order of Eastern Star and had served as Worthy Matron for two years
in the Greenwood Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Betty) Fischer of Penn
Valley, Calif., and a granddaughter. Three brothers and two sisters
preceded her in death.
