Mattausch, Amelia (1883 - 1983)


Amelia Mattausch, 99, formerly of Greenwood, who has been residing for the past eight years at Memorial Home, Neillsville, died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1983, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattausch were at 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 1983, at Immanuel United Church of Christ. Officiating was Rev. Alwyn York. Interment was in the West Side Cemetery.

Amelia Miller was born on Nov. 1, 1883, in Clark County to Peter and Elizabeth (nee Herble) Miller. She received her education at Benjamin School.

On Nov. 27, 1909, she married Henry Mattausch in Buffalo County. They operated a family grocery store in Buffalo County, Alma, Wis. until 1940. They then moved to the Greenwood area, where they lived in retirement. Following her husband's death in 1957, she made her home with her niece in Neillsville, until moving to the nursing home eight years ago.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Lester of Burlington one daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Dolores) Wendt of Sidney, Mont. one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband and parents were one sister and eight brothers.
Pallbearers were Gerald Richmond, Herbert Horn, Walter Decker, Kenneth Karnitz, Dennis Wendt and Fritz Conrad. Rink Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.

Memorials are to be sent to the Rosholt Lions Camp.
