Horn, Elmer (1893 - 1983)
Elmer Horn, 89, formerly of Route 1, Chili,
Town of Sherman, Clark County, who had been residing at the
Marshfield Convalescent Center, died at the Center at 7 p.m.,
Friday, March 11, 1983.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 1983, at Rinka
funeral Home in Loyal. Rev. Norbert Miller of United Methodist
Church officiated., and burial was in the Veefkind Cemetery,
Spencer.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Andraska, Erick Axelson, Edward
Johnson, Gene Stumpner, Walter Hoover and Robert Rueth. The Loyal
American Legion performed full military rites.
Elmer Horn was born on July 23, 1893. On June 23, 1920, he and Floy
Sloniker were married at Greenwood.
He farmed for 58 years in the Veefkind area, until Oct. 1965, when
he suffered a stroke. He continued to live on the farm until his
wife's death in 1978, when he entered the Marshfield Convalescent
Center.
He held offices in the Spencer American Legion, Spencer Credit
Union, Chili Livestock Shipping Association, Marshfield VFW and the
Clark Electric Cooperative at Greenwood.
Surviving him are two daughters, Miss Fern Horn of Milwaukee and
Mrs. Harry (Sylvia) Kowghlanian of Milwaukee one son, Merlyn of
Norfolk, Va. three sisters, Mrs. Esther Petersen of Spencer, Miss
Laura Horn of Spencer and Miss Irene Horn of Burlingame, Cal. six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were one brother and one
sister.
Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, handled arrangements.
