Bertz, Cecilia (1914 - 1983)
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 28,
1983, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal, for Cecilia Bertz,
68, of the Greenwood, Clark County Apartments.
Mrs. Bertz died at 2:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 1983, at Memorial
Hospital, Neillsville.
Officiating at the service was Rev. James Logan. Interment was in
St. Anthony's Cemetery. Nephews, William Herr, Ronald Kocher, James
Yaeger, Michael Yaeger, Richard Schmitz and Robert Kocher, served
as pallbearers. Rink Funeral Home, Loyal, handled arrangements.
Cecilia Schmitz was born on Aug. 16, 1914, in Wisconsin to Joseph
and Catherine (nee Lindner) Schmitz. She was educated at St. Mary's
Parochial School in Greenwood.
On Aug. 22, 1933, she and John E. (Jack) Bertz were married at
Greenwood. After their marriage, they farmed in the Town of Loyal
until 1940, when they moved to the Town of Eaton. They farmed there
until 1956, then moved to the City of Greenwood. Since 1971, she
has been living at Black River Apartments in Greenwood.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its Ladies
Aid.
She is survived by two sons, Jack of Loyal and Ken of Hewitt one
daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Bobbie) Warmuth of Sun Prairie one brother,
Hubert (Bud) Schmitz of Greenwood four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Herr
of Greenwood, Mrs. Katie Hefner of Greenwood, Mrs. Donald (Mary
Ann) Kocher of Greenwood and Mrs. Burnell (Carol) Yaeger of
Greenwood and seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death beside her husband was one brother,
Otto.
A Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary was said at 3:15 p.m. and
a Prayer Service at 8 p.m., Wednesday evening.
