GRANTON -- A 10-month-old Route 1, Granton girl died today after being run over by the wheels of a milk truck.

Rebecca Rae Pernsteiner, daughter of Karen and the late Thomas Pernsteiner, died instantly of crushing injuries to the head, according to Clark County Coroner Robert Lulloff. The accident happened in the family's farm yard.

Rebecca's father died April 10, in an accident in his shop located at the farm.

The truck driver/owner (name deleted) was hauling milk for Mazanz's Dairy of Route 4, Neillsville. Authorities said the driver was unaware of the accident, and the girl was discovered by a sibling a few minutes after the truck left. Investigating officers said it appeared as though the child may have crawled under the cab of the truck and was obscured from view.

The Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, is in charge of arrangements.
