Steffen, Lena (1896 - 1983)
Services were held for Mrs. Emil (Lena) Steffen, 87, of Colby, at 1
p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1983, at St. John's Lutheran Church,
Riplinger. The Rev. R.A. Rakow officiated. She died Saturday
morning, Aug. 13, 1983, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Lena Hahn was born on Feb. 3, 1896, in Green County and received
her education there. She was married to Emil Steffen on Nov. 7,
1914, at Monroe. After their marriage, they farmed for many years
near Loyal, Clark County in the Town of Beaver. For the past
several years she had been residing at the home of a grandson at
Route 2, Colby.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Schuh of
Curtiss, Mrs. Irene Wittlinger of Rice Lake, Mrs. Jack (Rose)
Dumler of Riplinger, Mrs. Walter (Caroline) Boettcher of Athens and
Mrs. Orlo (Iris) Furman of Loyal and one son, Harry Steffen of
Germantown, N.Y. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren 16
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, one son
and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were all grandsons.
