Beaver, Matt (1898 - 1983)
Matt Beaver, 85, of 410 W. Main St., Spencer, die on Friday, Dec.
23, 1983, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27,
1983, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer. Officiating was
Rev. Andrew Bofenkamp.
Interment was in the West Spencer Cemetery, with grandsons serving
as pallbearers. A rosary service was conducted at 7:30 p.m.,
Monday. Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, handled arrangements.
Matt Beaver was born to John and Mary (nee Domine) Beaver in the
Town of Loyal, Clark County on Sept. 28, 1898. He received his
education at the Mack School and the Catholic School in Loyal.
On Sept. 28, 1926, he and Mary Fleming were married. She died in
1931. On July 23, 1935, he and Rosetta Schuld were married. She
died in 1937. He married Rosalind Rueth Miller on Aug. 30, 1952.
She died in 1981.
He was active in various retail stores in Loyal from 1919 - 1955,
during which time he also owned and operated the Beaver Dry Goods
Store. In 1955, he moved to Colby and operated a tavern. In 1961 he
moved to Marshfield and worked at St. John the Baptist Church and
later was custodian at Hotel Charles, until retiring in 1977. He
moved to Spencer in 1979 and has resided there since.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Holy Name
Society and Marshfield Knights of Columbus.
Surviving him are one son, Carlton of California two daughters,
Mrs. Glenn (Jane) Frankwick of Marshfield and Mrs. Douglas (Sally)
Sebold of Lindsay three step-sons, Ray Miller of Chili, Norman
Miller of Park Falls and Arnold Miller of Clinton and one
step-daughter, Mrs. Al (Betty) Hills of Loyal 23 grandchildren 10
great-grandchildren one brother, Bernard Beaver of Loyal and one
sister, Barbara Dean of California.
Preceding him in death were his parents 10 brothers and six
sisters.
