Frank J. Artac, age
85, of Greenwood, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit
on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998 at 1:10 p.m. Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 at Holy Family Catholic Church
in Willard. Fr. Joseph Follmar officiated and burial was in Holy
Family Cemetery. Visitation was held from Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998 at
Rinka Funeral Home, in Greenwood, from 4-9 p.m. and at church on
Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. There was a 7 p.m.
prayer service at the funeral home on Sunday. Pallbearers were
grandsons Mike Weis, Greg Artac, John Bailen, DaNeil Artac, Wayne
Artac and Matthew Urban.
Frank John Artac was born on Feb. 11, 1913 in Willard, to Michael
and Johanna (nee Lusina) Artac. He was raised on the family farm
and educated at North Willard School. During W.W.II, he was drafted
into the Army Air Corp and served 4 years overseas in Africa,
France and Italy. After his discharge, he returned to Willard and
married Mary A. Gosar on April 27, 1946. He worked as a plumber and
electrician and in the early 1950's opened Artac Appliance, in
Greenwood, where he worked up until the time of his death. His wife
Mary, died on August 24, 1992. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing,
taxidermy and politics. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic
Church, where he played church organ prior to his marriage, and
sang in the church choir for many years. He was also a member of
the Greenwood American Legion Walis Hinker Post 238 and K.S.K.J.
Lodge 174.
He is survived by two daughters: Frances (John) Bailen of West
Milwaukee Mary Ann (Alan) Urban of Franksville two sons: Bernard
(Joyce) of Greenwood and Lawrence (Jill) of Greenwood nine
grandchildren three great-grandchildren one sister, Emily Haug of
Brookfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Mary one brother,
Ludwig and two sisters, Angeline and Jennie Artac.
