Gregorich, Julia (22 JAN 1910 - 23 SEP 2001)
Julia Gregorich, 91, Greenwood, died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at
the Neillsville Memorial Medical Center. Visitation will be held
from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Cuddie Funeral Home,
Greenwood. There will be a 7:30 p.m. rosary service. Funeral
services will be held at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27 at St.
Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will
officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Julia Tomac was born on Jan. 22, 1910, in Yugoslavia, to Peter and
Katherine (nee Bukavac) Tomac. She and her family came to America
in 1932 and settled on a farm north of Greenwood. She attended
Hemlock's country school and Greenwood High School. She married
John Joseph Gregorich on Aug. 3, 1932, at Holy Family Catholic
Church, Willard. They farmed north of Greenwood from 1932-51 and
then farmed south of Greenwood until 1962, when they moved to
Chicago. She worked in various factories there. They returned to
the Greenwood area in 1968. Her husband passed away in 1993, and
she continued to reside in Greenwood at the Black River Apartments.
She resided recently with her son and daughter-in-law until
entering the nursing home last month. She enjoyed traveling,
fishing, quilting and playing bridge and sheepshead. She was known
for her apple strudel. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church and its St. Ann's Society.
Survivors include her children, Joe (Judy) Gregorich, California,
Bob (Rosie) Gregorich, Spencer, Ray (Margie) Gregorich, Big Timber,
Mont., LaVerne (Audrey) Gregorich, Willard, Bill Gregorich,
Wyoming, and Nancy Scheuerman, Greenwood 34 grandchildren 74
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph two grandchildren
one great-granchild one brother and one sister.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
