Navrestad, Tennes (15 SEP 1932 - 21 SEP
2001)
Tennes M. Navrestad, 69, Greenwood, died on
Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home,
Marshfield, after a battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. A celebration
of his life will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Our
Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg will
officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends following
the service during a luncheon and fellowship at the church.
Tennes Martin Navrestad was born on Sept. 15, 1932, in Westby, to
Tom and Bertha (nee Hooverson) Navrestad. He received his
elementary education in the Avalanche country school and was a 1950
graduate of Westby High School. He served in the United States Army
in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the early 1950s. In 1958, he received a
bachelor of arts degree in musical education from Luther College,
Decorah, Iowa, and completed his master's degree in musical
education at UW-Madison in 1963. He married Inez Nelson on April 9,
1966 in Westby. He was a music and band instructor in Osseo,
Cassville, Monticello and West Salem before he taught music at
Greenwood for 21 years. He retired in 1989, and worked part time
for Figi's in Neillsville and as a part-time mail carrier in
Neillsville. He was a member of the Clark County Male Chorus for
many years and its director for nine years. He was a past member of
the Rotary Club and an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran
Church, Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife, Inez, Greenwood two daughters, Sara
(Brian) Fischer, Hudson, and Laura (Pat) Bundy, Wisconsin Dells
four grandchildren, Kevin and Kristin Fischer and Kira and Rob
Bundy one brother, George (Carol) Navrestad, Westby and one sister,
Marilyn Jensen, Westby.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
