Mary A. (Mrs. Ivan) Ruzic, 72, of 902 Irene Ave. died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday September 29, 1991 at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit where she had been admitted Thursday. She had been in ill health for the past year.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, at St. John's Catholic Church with the Reverand Randy E. Olson officiating. Music was provided by Helen Brinkmann, organist, and St. John's Church Funeral Choir. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery, town of Hendren, Clark County.

Pallbearers were Matt and Mike Ruzic, Steve Martens, Stanley and Fank Pekol and Stanley Pernic.

Mary Ruzic was born December 13, 1918, in the town of Hendren, to Joseph and Helen (Zupancic) Pekol. She was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christ the King in Lamont, Il. from 1937-58. She received her bachelor's degree in 1957 from Duquesne University, Pittsburg, PA and her master's in reading remediation in 1970 from Cardinal Stritch College, Milwaukee.

She was married to Ivan Z. Ruzic August 19, 1961, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Madison.

After her marriage, she taught in the Milwaukee Public School System from 1963 until her retirement in 1981. She and her husband then moved to Hardy, AK and resided there until 1990. At that time they moved to Junction City and then to Marhsfield in May because of her ill health.

She belonged to St. John's Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, the Milwaukee Teachers Association, and was editor of the World Organization of China publication. She was a former member of St. Michael's Altar Society in Hardy.

She is survived by her husband one step-daughter, Mrs. Bert (Donna) Martens of Junction City two step-sons, Ivan Ruzic of Willard and Gary Ruzic of Neillsville one brother, Edward Pekol of Willard 12 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit.
