Bentzler, George (3 OCT 1889 - 1 MAR
1985)
George Bentzler, 95, of Loyal, Clark County, Died Friday, March 1,
1985, at 5:35 p.m., at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, 1985, at St.
Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. James Logan officiated and
burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
George Bentzler was born on Oct. 3, 1889, in Elmwood, Trempeleau
County, to Mathias and Elizabeth (nee Doll) Bentzler.
He served under General Pershing in the 32nd Division in
France.
On April 19, 1922, he and Leona Schweiger were married at St.
Balthasar Catholic Church, Loyal. They celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary on June 24, 1972 and their 60th in 1982. They
farmed in the Town of Loyal until four years ago, when they moved
to the city of Loyal.
He was a member of the Loyal American Legion and a World War I
Veteran. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Loyal.
Surviving him are eight sons, Laverne "Bud" of
Milwaukee, Garland of Loyal, Jerome of Sun Prairie, Donald of
Marshfield, George Jr. of Milwaukee, Edward of North Rochester,
N.H., Raymond of Hartford and Kenneth of Caroline six daughters,
Mrs. John (Virginia) Grutzik of Pittsville, Mrs. Myron (Mary)
Burkhardt of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Irban (Leona) Aumann of Loyal,
Mrs. Dick (Darlene) Lasch of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Ronald
(Kathleen) Froeba of Loyal and Mrs. Ron (Janet) Fruehbrodt of
Marshfield 50 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Pauline Wetzel of Hartford,
Sister Rose Carmel and Sister Rose Carmelita of Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc and two brothers, Peter and Matt, both of South
Bend, Ind.
Preceding him in death were his wife his parents four sisters two
brothers two grandchildren.
Military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion.
Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
