Newman, Bernhard (15 APR 1929 - 9 APR 1985)

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Friday, April 12, 1985, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Riplinger, for Bernhard Newman, 78, of Route 1, Unity.

Mr. Newman died Tuesday, April 9, 1985, at Colonial House of Colby nursing home.

Officiating at the service was Rev. David Ault. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, handled arrangements.

Bernhard Newman was born in the Town of Green Grove, Clark County on April 15, 1929. He and Minnie Domer were married on Jan. 22, 1949 , in the Town of Unity.

He farmed in the townships of Green Grove and Unity and was Town of Unity chairman and clerk for many years. He served on the county board and was president of St. John's Church for a number of years. He also served many offices on the church council.

He is survived by his wife one son, Donald Newman of Unity four grandchildren two great-grandchildren one brother, Riley Newman of Colby and one sister, Mrs. Delmar (Bernita) Reel of Elgin, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Fredricka (nee Augustine) Newman one son six sisters and one brother.
