Essex, Mary (30 OCT 1891 - 17 JUN 1985)


Mrs. William (Mary) Essex, 93, Loyal, Clark County, was buried at the Cross Roads Cemetery in West Lima, June 19, 1985. She died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, June 17, at her home.

Officiating at the 10:30 service was Rev. Arlene C. Denzer of United Methodist Church and Walter Hamelink of the Assembly of God. Services were held at the Rinka Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Grambsch, Charles Anderson, Kevin Klumpke, Dale Clintsman, Russell Hansen, and William Essex.

She was born Oct. 30, 1891 in Richland County to Robert and Nettie Wallace.

She received her education in Richland County Schools.

On April 4, 1917 she married Bill Essex in Yuba, Wis. They recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. After their marriage they farmed and ran a cheese factory for seven years from 1917 to 1924 in Richland County. They then owned and operated a cheese factory in the town of York until 1930, when they moved to the city of Loyal.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, William one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Eva) Grambsch, Loyal one son, Eddie Essex, Seminole, Fla. one sister, Mrs. Ethel Hepburn, Eau Claire six grandchildren 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister and a daughter in infancy, Ethel Birdine.
