Witt, Leonora (27 AUG 1896 - 23 NOV 1985)
Leonora Witt, 89, formerly of Abbotsford, died at Memorial Home,
Neillsville, early Saturday evening, Nov. 23, 1985.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1985, at Christ Lutheran
Church, Abbotsford, at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Ahrens officiated and
burial was in St. Martin's Lutheran Cemetery, Clintonville.
Leonora Matthias was born to Charles and Bertha (nee Schuelke)
Matthias on Aug. 27, 1896. She received her education in Waupaca
County.
On Sept. 17, 1917 she and Alexander Witter were married in Big
Falls. After their marriage, they moved to Loyal, Clark County,
where they owned and operated five cheese factories, one in Grand
View, two in Loyal, one in Ingram and one in Greenwood. Later they
moved to Abbotsford, where her husband went into business with
their son Julius at A J Wrecking, which is now Abbotsford Auto,
Inc.
She has been at the nursing home for 2 years. She was a member of
Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, an honorary member of the
Ladies Aid, and a member of Pure Willow Lake Sportsman's Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Nidy of Milwaukee and
Frieda Rolczski of Sommerville, N.J. 15 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren two sisters,
Mrs. Andrew (Lydia) Marks of Manawa and Mrs. Howard (Frieda) Zeuhl
of Marian.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1945 one daughter one
son her parents and four brothers.
Rux Funeral Home, Colby, handled the arrangements.
