ALOIS HOFFMAN


Alois Butch Joseph Hoffman, 63, King, formerly of Greenwood, Clark County, died Thursday, May 23, 1996, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Funeral services were held at 11 am. On Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Father Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.


Alois Joseph Hoffman was born on June 5, 1932, in Marshfield, to Louis and Irene (nee Gruber) Hoffman. He received his education at St. John's Catholic School in Marshfield. He then farmed in Greenwood with his sister, Marie Susa and her husband. He served in the Korean Conflict from Dec. 1952 until Nov. 1954 and obtained the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. After the service, he continued to farm with his sister and her husband until entering the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Feb. 1983. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post 238 in Greenwood and the Fox Coon Hunter Club in Neillsville.


Survivors include on brother, Ed (Elaine) Hoffman, Ladysmith and two sisters, Marie (Giles) Susa, Greenwood and Betty (Frank) Schuster, Pittsville.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Raymond.


Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
