Cowles, Loretta A. (15 JUN 1907 - 12 OCT
2001)
Loretta A. Cowles, 94, Stevens Point, died on
Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 at St.
Stanislaus Catholic Church. Deacon Donald Borski officiated. Burial
will take place at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Loyal.
Loretta A. Bannach was born on June 15, 1907, in Stratford, to John
and Clara (nee Nowak) Bannach. She moved to Loyal with her family,
where she grew up and graduated from Loyal High School. She married
Lawrence V. Cowles on Oct. 11, 1925, in Loyal. She helped her
husband with the Loyal Newspaper for 25 years until 1955. From 1955
until 1972, they owned the Loyal School and Office Supply Co. They
retired in 1972 and moved to Stevens Point. She was a member of St.
Stanislaus Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Cowles, M.D. (Fred Hood),
Lexington, Ky., and Dolores (LeRoy) Behling, Stevens Point one
sister, Lillian Shefchik, Rhinelander and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lawrence, on June 5, 1982
her parents two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial is established in her name for St. Stanislaus Catholic
Church.
Boston Funeral Home, Stevens Point, assisted the family with
arrangements.
