Ormond, John E. (14 DEC 1931 - 28 NOV 2001)
John E. Ormond, 69, Neillsville, Clark
County, died on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at the Palliative Care
Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were
held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at the Gesche
Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Craig Conklin officiated. Music
was provided by Deon Spangler, organist, and Lori Wirtz, soloist.
Interment was in the east Weston Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers
were Arnold Buchholz, Rich Buchholz, Wally Erickson, Bernie Opelt,
Don Schultz and Bernie Walker. Casket Bearers were Brian Petkovsek,
Les Ormond, Jake Ormond, Aaron Maitke, Jim Marshall and Chad
Hagedorn.
John Edward Ormond was born on Dec. 14, 1931, in the town of
Weston, to John and Beulah (nee Orsburn) Ormond Sr. He attended the
Globe Grade School and Greenwood High School. After his schooling,
he hauled milk for the Hediger Dairy in Christie. Then, he worked
for Stewart's Redville Dairy in Greenwood. He later returned to
Hediger's and worked drying milk. He married Frances Murphy on June
16, 1951, in the Christie United Methodist Church. He eventually
went to work for the Neson Muffler Factory. He worked there for
just under 30 years, before retiring in 1993. He was a member of
the Christie United Methodist Church and also belonged to the
Christie Card Club. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing and
hunting for both deer and bear. He was an avid maple syrup producer
and kept busy with his hobby farm. He enjoyed making people laugh
and the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Fran two sons, Ronald (Susan) Ormond,
Humbird, and Walter (Lana) Ormond, Neillsville four daughters,
Barbara (Bob) Petkovsek, Neillsville, Linda (Jerry Cernik) Ormond,
Neillsville, Janice (Denis) Carteron, Fort Atkinson, and Tammy
Ormond, Neillsville six grandchildren, Jenni Ormond, Les Ormond,
Brian Pekovsek, Brenda Maitke, Abby Ormond and Jake Ormond one
great-grandchild, Logan Marshall one brother, Ted (Sue) Ormond,
Stoughton three sisters, Beatrice (Frank) Bayuk, Greenwood, Ethel
Zager, Neillsville, and Evelyn (Pete) Zager, Neillsville and other
special relatives and friends, Leslie Murphy, Lynnea Thums, Lanell
Wehe, Jeannine Slaughter, Erin Slaughter, and Corrie Slaughter.
Preceding him in death were his parents one granddaughter one
sister, Charlotte Briggs and one brother-in-law.
The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with
arrangements.
