Smith, Chester (5 SEP 1893 - 26 JAN 1984)
Chester Smith, 90, of 216 S. Main, Loyal,
Clark County, died at the Marshfield Convalescent Center on
Thursday morning, Jan. 26, 1984.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were conducted at United Methodist
Church, Loyal, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 1984. Rev. C. Arlene
Denzer officiated and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.
Full military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion
Post. Legion Members, Dale Kauffman, John Olsen, Bob Bertz, John
Schultz, Dick Andraska and Walter Hoover served as pallbearers.
Chester Smith was born to Milo and Mary (nee Palmer) Smith on Sept.
5, 1893. He received his education at Marshfield schools.
On June 8, 1920, he and Gertrude Baker were married in Milwaukee.
After their marriage, he worked with the Smith Family in the
implement business. Later he farmed in the Town of Loyal many
years. He later worked for Pathfinder, where he delivered trailers
across the United States. They celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in 1970 and their 60th wedding anniversary in 1980.
He was town clerk for many years a member of Loyal American Legion
for 60 years a World War I veteran a member of WWI Marshfield
Barracks Veteran's Association in the 32nd Red Arrow Division a
board member of the Clark County Historical Society and a member of
the United Methodist Church of Loyal and its Men's Club.
