Opdycke, Eloda (13 Aug 1889 - 27 FEB 1984)
Eloda Opdycke, 94, died on Monday, Feb. 27,
1984, at Dothan, Ala.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 1984, at Grace
United Methodist Church, Greenwood. Officiating was Rev. Norbert
Miller. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, with Bill Stabnow,
Don Wells, Dale Clintsman, Laurence Cox, Lloyd Peterson and Frank
Petkovsek serving as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood,
handled arrangements.
Eloda Stabnow was born on Aug. 13, 1889, at Hecla, S.D. She
graduated from Greenwood High School in 1909 and attended Normal
School at Reedsburg.
She came to Greenwood with her parents in 1901. She taught school
for three years in South Dakota and for two years in the Hemlock
Grade School. She lived five years in Frederick, S.D. before coming
to Greenwood in 1920.
On Nov. 27, 1915, she and Edgar T. Opdycke were married at
Aberdeen, S.D.
She was a member of the Suffragettes, Royal Neighbors, Grace United
Methodist Church, St. Luke's UMC, Enterprise, Ala.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Janet) Shields of
Florida, Mrs. Mel (Fay) Schumacher of Alabama, and Mrs. Frank
(Janice) Roshnafsky five grandchildren two great-grandchildren and
one sister, Mrs. John (Esther) Meng of Lakeland, Fla.
Preceding her in death were her husband and parents.
