Wendt, Adolph H. (30 JUL 1911 - 4 MAY 1984)


Adolph H. Wendt, 72, of Route 1, Owen, Town of Longwood, Clark County, died Friday, May 4, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, at 2:25 a.m.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, May 7, 1984, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood. Rev. Alwyn York officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerome Erickson, Gerald Olson, Duane Olson, Dick Olson, Jack Abel, Tom Abel and Kenneth Laube. Honorary pallbearers were Hub Missling, Fritz Conrad, Raymond Kliauga, Warren Bottlemy, Eddie Gosse and Loren Miller. Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, handled arrangements.

Adolph Wendt was born on July 30, 1911, in the Town of Longwood. He and Florine Abel were married in October 1935.

They farmed in the Town of Hendren until 1938. He hauled milk on the route until 1940 and worked at Badger Ordinance Plant in Baraboo until 1942. He later farmed in the Town of Longwood until 1975, when he retired and entered Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood and was on the church board for six years.

Surviving him are his wife, Florine two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Carol) Missling of Owen and Mrs. Roger (Geraldine) Wathke of Osseo one son, Dennis of Owen one brother, Edgar Wendt of Greenwood three sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Bertha) Gander of Danville, Ky., Mrs. Burnell (Leona) Erickson of Columbus and Mrs. Daniel (Alice) Olson of Greenwood and eight grandchildren.
