Kruger, Gilbert C. (27 JAN 1898 - 9 MAY 1984)


Gilbert C. Kruger, 86, of Route 2, Loyal, Clark County, died on Wednesday, May 9, 1984, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 1984, at the United Methodist Church, Loyal. Officiating was Rev. C. Arlene Denzer. Ruth Zepplin was the organist and Coni Meyer the Soloist.

Interment was in the Loyal Cemetery, with Leo Geiger, Edgar Verhlan, Jim Wangen, Elmer Gotter, Vern Rogstad and Neil Johnston serving as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, handled arrangements.

Gilbert Kruger was born to Herman and Wilhelmina (nee Knight) Kruger on Jan. 27, 1898, at Coloma. He received his education at Appleton and Bushey's Business College, graduating in 1916.

He and Helen Kromer were married at Appleton on June 21, 1919. He worked in the bank at Coloma for a while after his marriage, until moving to a farm in the Town of Loyal. He farmed for 64 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church was town assessor for 20 years was a member of the Mack School Board for 20 years a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of Eau Claire.

Surviving him are his wife one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Jean) Loos of Loyal two sons, Jack of Spencer and Richard of Janesville one sister, Mrs. Phyllis Johnson of Coos Bay, Oregon nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
