Velte, Bessie M. (3 FEB 1894 - 25 NOV 1984)


Mrs. Bessie M. Velte, 90, of the Neillsville Memorial Home, formerly of 104 West Fourth, Marshfield, died at 10:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1984, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Roland Rakow officiated.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Soloist was Charles Bizjak.

Bessie Rue was born on Feb. 3, 1894, in Richland Center. She received her education at Richland Center Schools.

She was married to Earl Truax in April 1911 at Spencer. He died in May 1936. She married James McConnell in 1940. He died in 1948. She married Ed Velte in 1949. He died in 1980.

They farmed in the Town of Spencer until moving to the City of Marshfield in 1932. In 1942, she moved to Greenwood and lived there until returning to Marshfield in 1955. She was a resident of Marshfield until entering the Neillsville Memorial Home two years ago.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood.

Survivors include one son, Darrell Truax of Kenosha two daughters, Mrs. Wilford (Etta) Martin of Marshfield and Mrs. Joseph (Constance) Bizjak of Greenwood 15 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren one brother, Raymond Rue of Shafer, Minn. and one sister, Mrs. Etta Burnett of Spencer.

Preceding her in death were five sons one daughter six grandchildren and three brothers.

Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield, handled arrangements.
