Gray, Marguerite E. (2 AUG 1921 - 13 MAR
2002)
Marguerite E. Gray, 80, Colby, Clark County,
formerly of Riverside, Ill., and Superior, died on Wednesday, March
13, 2002, at the Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated. Burial was in Calvary
Cemetery, Superior.
Marguerite Elinor Grosbier was born on Aug. 2, 1921, in Marshfield,
to Roland and Anna (nee Michels) Grosbier. She was raised in
Marshfield, attended Sacred Heart School, and graduated from
McKinley High School in 1939. She completed the St. Joseph's School
of Nursing program in 1942, and then served with the Army Nurse
Corps in the European Theatre during World War II. After her
discharge, she worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital, Tomah. She
married Maurice Gray on Oct. 7, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Marshfield. They moved to Riverside, Ill., and both worked
at the West Side VA Hospital, Chicago. She worked at the VA
Hospital for 10 years, then took a position as head nurse of the
medical department of Continental Bank of Chicago. She retired from
Continental Bank and traveled with her husband. They moved to
Superior in 1998. She entered the Colonial Center, Colby, in August
1999, and resided there until the time of her death. She was a Girl
Scout leader.
Survivors include two brothers, Gordon (Joyce) Grosbier,
Albuquerque, N.M., and Roland (Marion) Grosbier, Montrose, Colo.
one sister, Virginia (Clem) Esselman, Loyal and nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Maurice, in May 1999 her
parents and one brother, Robert Grosbier.
