MOTHER OF GREENWOOD WOMAN DIES
Bessie M. Williams, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 24,
1975, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, as a result of a heart
attack. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Don Berthold,
at R. 1, Greenwood, Clark County, for the past year.
The former Bessie Thomson was born Dec. 29, 1890 at Shawano. She
was married on Dec. 31, 1913 at Omrow, Wis. to Rollin Williams, who
preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, on
Thursday, Aug. 28, at 1:30 p.m., with burial at Sylvan Cemetery in
the Town of Reseberg. Mr. Murray Keene and Mr. Erling Omdal
officiated at the rites.
Pallbearers were Rollie Williams, Frank Briski, Kenneth Williams,
James Williams, Danny Bartlett, and Tommy Briski.
She is survived by three sons, Dewey Williams of Thorp, Roy of
Adams, Wis., and Walter of Colorado Springs, Colo., five daughters,
Mrs. Alvin (Emma) Kippenhan, Greenwood, Della Williams, Clayton,
N.M., Mrs. Don (Nettie) Berthold, Greenwood Mrs. Dalton (Grace)
Bartlett, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Hester Williams, Colorado
Springs, Colo. and two sisters, Mrs. Willie (Ethel) Waltemate,
Waukegan, Ill., and Mrs. Howard (Veda) Olp, Mauston, Wis., and 22
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Mildred)
Briski, and a daughter and son in infancy.

Williams, Bessie M. #2 (29 December 1890 – 24 August 1975)
Bessie M. Williams, 84, Greenwood, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday of an apparent heart
attack at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted
Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Williams, the former Bessie M. Thompson, was born December 29, 1890, in
Shawano County and received education in the Berlin schools.
She married December 31, 1913, at Omro to Rollin H. Williams, who died January
3, 1956. After their marriage they lived in the Thorp area. After the death of
her husband, she resided with her children and at Stetsonville at the home of
Alma Dahl.
Surviving are eight children: Dewey J. Williams of Thorp, Mrs. Alvin (Emma)
Kippenhan of Greenwood; Roy Williams of Adams, Walter Williams of Colorado
Springs, Co., Delia Williams of Clayton, N.M., Mrs. Donald (Nettie) Berthold of
Greenwood, Mrs. Dalton (Grace) Bartlett of Colorado Springs, Co., and Hester
Williams of Colorado Springs, Co. Twenty-two grandchildren, and 15
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Veda) Olp of Mauston and Mrs.
Willie (Ethel) Waltemate of Waukegan, Il., also survive.
Funeral services were scheduled for today (Thursday) from the Thorp Funeral Home
with Murray Keene and Erling Ondol officiating. Burial will be made in the
Reseburg Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie M. Williams were held Thursday, August 28 at
1:30 p.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home with Mr. Murray Keene and Mrs. Erling Omdal
officiating. The soloist, Sara Knightston was accompanied on the organ by
Maydelle Brockhaus.
