Larson, Thomas P. (4 APR 1931 - 25 FEB
2002)
Lt. Col. Thomas P. Larson, USAF, 70, died on
Monday, Feb. 25, 2002. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on
Saturday, March 2, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church.
Thomas Larson was born on April 4, 1931, in Thorp, Clark County, to
Lief and Anna (nee Zinsli) Larson. He graduated from Thorp High
School. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and
the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Shortly thereafter, he
joined the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force for
22 years and was a highly decorated officer. He flew the F-106 in
the Paris Air Show, competed twice in the William Tell contest,
served during the Korean War and flew 100 missions over North
Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He also served a second tour
of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded with many honors during his
service including the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters and the
Distinguished Flying Cross with five Oak Leaf Clusters. After
retiring in San Antonio, Texas, he attended Southwest Texas State
University where he earned a Master of Science degree in health
management administration. After college, he worked in the allied
health field and then went to work for the Alamo Community College
District where he served as a liaison between the College District
and the area military bases. He spent his retirement actively
volunteering with the Salvation Army and Boysville, working with
the church council and teaching Sunday school. His interests
included golf.
Survivors include his wife, Ann (nee Warner) Larson three
daughters, Lynn (Doug) Barron, Pearland, Texas, Kathy (Tom) Cucolo,
San Antonio, Texas, and Jennifer Larson, San Antonio, Texas one
son, Lief Larson, San Antonio, Texas five granddaughters, Beth and
Rebecca Barron, and Allison, Ann and Clara Cucolo three sisters,
Elaine Below, Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathleen (Chris) Christle, Naples,
Fla., and Ann Lief (George Riesz) , Las Vegas, Nev. and one
brother, Peter (Bonnie) Larson, Thorp.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
