Bowers, George (1831 - 1881)

Last Friday morning a man named George Bowers, aged about fifty years, died of hemorrhage of the lungs at Coleman's Camp on Wedge's Creek. The deceased worked in the woods several years ago, and was a good hand. This fall he came here in very poor health and was given employment by Mr. Dan Kennedy, Mr. Coleman's business manager., and sent to the camp on Wedge's Creek, of which Ed Topman is foreman, with instructions that he should be given some light work, as he was really unfit to do much, and he was assigned to duty as a helper around the stables of the camp. The morning of his death he went out to help put some boards on the roof of the blacksmith shop, and while thus engaged his lungs commence bleeding, and he died within ten minutes.

He has no friends here, and it is not known that he has at any other place. When he was here several years ago, he spoke of having property at Montevideo, Minn., and it is thought that that may have been his home.
