Klopf, Carl Frederick (31 MAR 1861 - 25 APR 1882)

Carl Frederick Klopf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klopf, of this city (Neillsville, Clark County), died of typhoid fever at Milwaukee last Tuesday at 12 o'clock p.m., after an illness of seven days, aged 21 years and 26 days. The deceased was known to this community as a bright, intelligent boy, who goodness of heart was as boundless as his spirits were of buoyancy, and the announcement of his death is received with universal regret. He came to this place nearly eight years ago with his parents, and resided here until about two years ago, when he went to Milwaukee to learn the tin-smith's trade with Henry Daniels, of that city. During that time he has visited his friends at this place several time, and during each visit gave abundant evidence that he was the same generous, good-hearted boy that he was when he went out into the world to carve out for himself a name and fortune. On Friday last his parents received a telegram stating that he was dangerously ill, and that evening they started for Milwaukee, remaining with his until Monday morning, when they returned, owing to the illness of Mrs. Klopf, and his brother Henry went to attend him during his sickness, only to find on his arrival, the lifeless form of his beloved brother, Fred, the name by which he was generally known. The remains, accompanied by his brother Henry, Mrs. Daniels, his former employer, and wife, were brought to this place yesterday morning and interred, the funeral taking place from the Presbyterian Church at 2 o'clock p.m.

Though dying among strangers, he had all the care and attention that could have been bestowed, and the friends he had made during his residence in that city today mourn with the friends here the loss of one they had learned to respect and love.
