Bates, Mary A. (1815 - 4 NOV 1884)
Died, Mrs. Mary A. Bates, wife of George Bates, departed this life
at her home in Pleasant Ridge, Nov. 4th, 1884, aged 69 years. She
came from England to New York, first in 1830 and again in 1844,
residing in buffalo until her removal to Clark County, Wis. in
1864. The family of herself and her first husband consisted of four
children, all of which still live and reside in Clark County: Mrs.
Thos. Huckstead, Mrs. Jno. Waterman, Mrs. Jno. Vine and Mrs. Fred
J. Vine. She had grandchildren to the number of 21. She was a great
sufferer for several years, and for eighteen months she had not
left the house. Although a member of the church of England, she
freely worshipped with those of other denominations. In compliance
with her wishes her funeral will be attend by the pastor of the
Presbyterian Church, who will be assisted by the pastor of the M.E.
Church.
