Brock, Emi (18 JUN 1864 - 26 NOV 1884)
Died, in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 26, 1884, Emi Brock, son of Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Brock of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., aged 20 years,
5 months and 8 days, of consumption. Funeral was held from the
residence of the parents in this city, Nov. 29, 1884, Rev. W. T.
Hendren officiating.
The deceased had lived most of the time since boyhood in Clark
County, his father Mr. A. J. Brock, having been one of the oldest
resident on Black River, and well known to all the older citizens
of the county. Consumption, the fell destroyer of all that seems
brightest and good attacked him about two years ago, and gradually
he pine away and died in the sunny south, where he had been taken
by his mother in the vain hope that a warmer clime would stop the
ravages of disease and restore to health and manhood's vigor the
son she loved so well. In vain was the effort, in vain all care,
for when that scourge attacks its victim it ceaselessly pursues it
through every lane of life till the utmost verge is reached and the
grave opens to receive him. In the death of Emi, the father and
mother lose a beloved son, a sister a darling brother, while the
community loses one who gave promise of becoming a most excellent
citizen. The family have the sincere sympathy of all our
people.
