Sterns, Gustavus (1830 - 6 AUG 1885)

Died, in this city (Neillsville, Clark County), Aug. 6th, 1885, of Typhoid Fever, after an illness of three weeks, Gustavus Sterns, aged 55 years.

Mr. Sterns was an old resident of Neillsville, and has been a prominent man in the history of Clark County. In 1868 he was elected clerk of the circuit court, an office which he filled in an able manner. In 1874 he joined the Odd Fellows in this city and was for a long time one of the most active members of the order. His funeral was conducted by the Odd Fellows and was a very impressive one. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his untimely death. They have the tenderest sympathy of their many friends in their sad bereavement. The funeral was held at the residence, Rev. W. T. Hendren officiating.
