Weeks, Stephen (1813 - 21 NOV 1886)
Died, Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 1886, in this city (Neillsville,
Clark County), of general debility, Stephen Weeks, aged 73
years.
Mr. Weeks was born in Connecticut and came to Wisconsin in 1855,
and settled at Beaver Dam in Dodge County. In Jan. 1862, he
enlisted in the 17th Wisconsin and served for 18 months. In 1863,
he again enlisted in the 31st Wisconsin and served nearly a year
when he was again discharged for disability. Since 1867 he has been
living in this county, most of the time in Neillsville. He was a
member of the Neillsville Post, G.A.R. and the members of that Post
looked after his welfare during his illness and attended his
funeral. He leaves a wife and four sons, two of whom were present
the last week he lived. He has come to a better land, where there
is no trouble and where the weary are at rest.
