Baker, Rose (1868 - 12 OCT 1889)

Last Saturday, Oct. 12, 1889, Mrs. Rose Baker died at the residence of her mother, Mrs. Samuel Dixon, in this city (Neillsville Clark County). Mrs. Baker's death was caused by consumption. Her age was 21. She leaves two children, one of three years and one of seven months. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. W. T. Hendren and J.D. Brothers.

Rose spent nearly all her life here, where she endeared herself to all by her lady-like demeanor. No one has lately departed this life here for many months whose death has excited more sympathy for those left behind. And this is because of the untiring devotion of mother and sister to the deserted young wife and helpless children, for Mrs. Baker's husband proved to be utter oblivious to his suffering wife and little babes. Everything that could be done for the dying woman was done by Mrs. Dixon and daughter Maud, who have the universal sympathy of the whole community.
