Sweet, Lieuellen (22 FEB 1837 - 17 DEC
1889)
Mrs. Lieuellen Sweet, wife of Martin Sweet, living new Romadka Mill
in the town of York, Clark County, died Tuesday morning very
suddenly. She got up and ate breakfast as usual, and then laid down
on a lounge, and soon complained of sharp pains in her chest and
shoulder. Her daughter began bathing the parts affected, when Mr.
Sweet came in from doing his chores, and was surprised to see her
lying down. He asked her if she was sick, and she replied: "No,
only there are pains in my shoulder and chest." Then, Mr.
Sweet went out doors again, but soon came in and asked her how she
was feeling, and she replied in about the same manner as before. He
then turned his back to her, while standing at the stove. Soon she
called his name twice, in a tone that quickly brought his to her
side. He took hold of her, but she drew but a breath or two and
expired.
Mrs. Sweet was born in Susquehanna County, Pa., Feb. 22, 1837, and
moved to this county with her family in May, 1879. She would have
been 53 years old next February. She was a lady beloved by all who
knew her, and her death is a sad blow to her relatives and friends.
She will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.
