Dwyer, Mrs. John Sr. (JUN 1822 - 22 JAN
1890)
Mrs. John Dwyer, Sr., mother of ex-Sheriff John Dwyer, died at her
home in the town of York, Clark County, suddenly last Wednesday
night. She was taken sick Sunday with Pneumonia, which resulted in
her death.
Mrs. Dwyer had been a remarkably healthy woman, knowing but little
sickness before that which terminated fatally. She would have been
68 years old in June next. She was a woman beloved by all who knew
her, and in her neighborhood none was respected more than grandma
Dwyer. She was mother of six children, five now living, John,
Frank, Mrs. Wm. Farning, Mrs. F. O. Northrup, Mrs. Thos. Murray and
Mrs. Geo. Castner. Mrs. Castner died nine years ago.
The deceased and her husband came to this county in 1858 or 1859.
Mr. Dwyer, who died some years ago, engaged in the logging
business, accumulating considerable property, the Dwyer farms in
the town of York being some of the finest in Clark County.
The funeral will be held today at 10 o'clock, at the Catholic
Church, and the remains will be laid to rest by the side of those
of her husband, in the Neillsville Cemetery.
