Jackson, Greenie Lee (20 Nov. 1929 - 13 Nov. 1993)

Greenie Lee Jackson, University Park, Ill., formerly of Greenwood, Clark County, died Nov. 13, 1993, at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights, Ill. A funeral mass was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 1993, at St. Agnes Church, Chicago Heights. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Steger, Ill.

Greenie Lee Jackson was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Maysville, Ky. He graduated from Dunbar High School. Lexington, Ky., in 1947. He entered military service in Oct. 1950. He served and was wounded in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in May 1954 at the rank of Second Lieutenant. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 1951 from Central State College, Wilberforce, Ohio. He received a masters degree in secondary education from the University of Kentucky in 1956. He taught high school chemistry and physics in Lexington from 1955-61. He then moved to Wisconsin and worked for Wedges Creek Research Farm, Willard, for several years. He began teaching at Greenwood High School in June 1969. He taught English, chemistry and physics until retiring in May 1992. While at Greenwood, he was the National Honor Society advisor, yearbook advisor, photo club advisor, held several offices in the Greenwood Education Association, and was a representative to the Central Wisconsin Uniserv council and the Wisconsin Education Association Council. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard.

Survivors include his mother, Harrieta Jackson, University Park, Ill. four half-sisters, Angela Jackson, Lexington, Ky. Elizabeth J. Porter, Indianapolis, Ind. and Faye Huntley, Macon, Ga. and four half-brothers, Robert Jackson, Jonathon Jackson and Scottie Jackson Jones, all of Lexington, Ky. and Perry Jackson, in the Navy at San Diego, Cal.
