Sniteman, Alice (DEC 1858 - 19 NOV 1891)
Died, Mrs. Alice
Sniteman, wife of C. C. Sniteman, of this city (Neillsville, Clark
County), at Winnebago, Thursday, Nov. 19, 1891, at the age of 33
years and 11 months.
Mrs. Sniteman was born in New York in 1858, and was married to Mr.
Sniteman at St. Louis, Mo., in 1876. Soon after their marriage they
came to Neillsville, which place has been their home since that
time. Two or three years ago Mrs. Sniteman became afflicted with a
brain difficulty, and after every other effort to effect a cure had
failed, she was taken to the Northern Hospital, near Oshkosh, for
treatment, where it was hoped that under the care of skilled
specialists she might recover. No care or expense was spared in her
treatment, but she was beyond the reach of human aid, and death has
come to her at last to relieve her of her sufferings. She was a
woman with an exceptionally kind and generous nature, and her hand
was ever ready to reach forth to comfort and aid those who needed
sympathy and help one who has been, and will be sadly missed by
many whose lives have been brightened by the sunlight of her kind
acts.
The funeral services were held at the Unitarian Church, Saturday
afternoon, at which the Rev. T. G. Owen officiated. The sermon is
generally spoken of as a very fine one and seemed to us a masterly
production. The services were largely attended, and the floral
display on and about the casket was exceedingly beautiful.
