Awe, Hilda Otelia (18 June 1899 - 12 March 1994)
Hilda Otelia Awe, 94, Withee, Clark County, died Saturday, March
12, 1994, at the home of her daughter, Virginia Perman, Roseville,
Minn. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15,
1994, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood. Rev. Lowell Bolstad
officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers
were Jim Bertelson, Erick Bertelson, Tim Borgort, Steve Olson,
Lauri Perman and Nate Ryan.
Hilda Otelia Bredeson was born on June 18, 1899, in Longwood, to
Thorvald and Agnete (nee Arnesen) Bredeson. She was a 1917
graduated of Greenwood High School and earned a Rural School
Teachers certificate in 1918 at the State Normal School at River
Falls. She taught school in the Longwood area for six years before
her marriage to John A. Awe on June 18, 1924. He died in 1974. She
also taught grade school during World War II. She was a member of
Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longwood, where she taught Sunday
School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Auxiliary
of the Van Huizen-Fritz American Legion Post 123 of Owen. From July
1993 through Jan. 1994, she resided at the Oakbrook Manor in
Thorp.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia (Victor) Perman,
Roseville, Minn. four granddaughters three great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband three sisters,
Olivia Bowen, Borghild Thiel and Tillie Shirley one brother, Jul
Bredeson one granddaughter, Vicki Perman and nieces and
nephews.
Memorials can be given to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Longwood
or the American Cancer Society.
Maurina Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
