Voigt, Russell E. (28 DEC 1916 - 26 APR 2002)
Russell E. Voigt, 85, Marshfield, formerly of Chili, Clark County,
died on Friday, April 26, 2002, at his home. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal.
The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial was in the Chili
United Methodist Cemetery, town of Fremont. Pallbearers were Mike
Voigt, Mark Voigt, Dan Hebert, Steve Voigt, Russell Voigt and
Debbie Hebert.
Russell Edwin Voigt was born on Dec. 28, 1916, in Dolliver, Iowa,
to Otto and Gertrude (nee Priebe) Voigt. He grew up on the
family farm and attended school in Toapi, Minn. He married LaVonne
Severson on Oct. 1, 1936, in Austin, Minn. They farmed in Adams,
Minn., until 1955, and then moved to Ostrander, Minn., and farmed
until 1962. They then moved to Lime Springs, Iowa, and farmed there
until moving to Chili in 1979. He continued to farm in the Chili
area until 1999. He then moved to Marshfield, where he resided
until the time of his death. His interests included going to sale
barns and buying cattle.
Survivors include three sons, Lester (Diane) Voigt, Lime Springs,
Iowa, Gary Voigt, La Crosse, and Delbert (Mary) Voigt, Loyal nine
grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild two
brothers, Leonard (Ruby) Voigt, Preston, Minn., and Ray (Evelyn)
Voigt, Toapi, Minn. one sister-in-law, Marcelle Voigt, Toapi, Minn.
and one brother-in-law, William Steuberg.
Preceding him in death were his parents his wife, LaVonne, on Jan.
7, 1987 two sons, Roger, in 1972, and Keith, in infancy in 1948 one
brother, Ralph Voigt and
one sister, Emma Olson.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
