Shafer, Lula (11 FEB 1877 - 5 MAR 1893)

Died, Lula, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Shafer, at Colby, Wis., on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, aged 16 years, 22 days, of consumption.

Miss Lula was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shafer and loved by all, and her death is regretted by everyone who knew her. The funeral was the largest ever seen in Colby, and attended by friends from Stevens Point to Ashland. The Republican and Press extends to Mr. and Mrs. Shafer its deepest sympathy in this their sad loss, of one of the brightest and prettiest young ladies of our acquaintance.

For a number of years she was engaged as typesetter on the Colby Phonograph, and was second to none in neatness and accuracy about her work.
