Marsh, Levi (1819 - 16 MAY 1893)

Levi Marsh, one of the oldest Clark County residents, died at the home of his brother, Nelson Marsh, in the town of Grant, Sunday, May 16, 1893.

He came to Clark County in 1856, took a homestead in what is now the town of Grant, where he ad since resided. Although he was 74 years of age, he had enjoyed unusually good health up to about a year ago, at which time he had a stroke of paralysis from which he but partially recovered, and the effects of which caused his death.

He leaves behind him the record of honest conscientious man, and died in the Christian faith. His funeral was conducted by Rev. Evatt of this city, from the Maple Works Church on Thursday.

(Additional Note)

Don't know if anyone from our research line has responded to your posting yet but I wanted to let you know that Nelson & Levi Marsh were brothers to my husband's ggg-gm Susy Ann Marsh b.1817 who married Ezekiel Carr in 1836 in Middletown, Susquehanna Co, PA. Ezekiel & his wife Susy Ann moved to Herrick Twp/Herrickville in nearby Bradford County, PA by 1837 and lived their whole lives there. They had 10 children, my husband descending from the oldest son James Carr [child #2] who married Nancy Barnes. Both Ezekiel Carr * his wife Susy Ann Carr are both buried in Herrickville Cemetery not far from where my husband's relatives still live.

I believe Susy Ann's brothers went out to Wisconsin on account of bounty land granted to their father Joseph Marsh for his War of 1812 service. One of Susy Ann Marsh Carr's sons, Calvin L. Carr followed them out there about 1870 where he married and had 2 sons before moving back to PA about 7 years later. Mary Lou Benjamin, Athens, Bradford Co, PA
