Dickson, Maud (DEC 1869 - 2 JUN 1894)
On Sunday afternoon, June 2nd, 1894, Miss Maud Dickson, a highly
esteemed lady of this city (Neillsville, Clark County), died of
consumption at the age of 24 years and six months.
The funeral services were ably conducted at the Methodist Church by
Rev. G.N. Foster, assisted by the Unitarian Choir, who kindly
contributed their valuable services by request.
In addition to the excellent music, the occasion was enlivened with
beautiful flowers which decorated the pulpit and casket.
The speaker selected a very appropriate text from Psalm 103, Verse
15. (The rest of the obit discusses the preachers sermon - I did
not transcribe that part.)
(A follow on article in the same paper follows)
Last Sunday, at 3 o'clock p.m., Miss Maud Dixon breathed her last
at the home of her mother. She had been a sufferer from consumption
for a long time, but made no complaints and was cheerful to the
last.
She was born at Sparta, Wis., and was twenty-one years and six
months old. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Tuesday
forenoon. A bright feature of the service was the attendance of six
of her young lady associates dressed in white, who acted as
assistants to the pall bearers.
The display of flowers was one of the finest ever seen in this
city. The remains were interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.
